The first update of the new year is the re-covering of our shoji screen.

The shoji screens, called “genji fusuma” or “nakagiri fusuma,” are sliding doors with a part of the screen for ventilation.

We re-covered the shoji screen part of the sliding door.

Here is how it looks like before.

I had some scraps of shoji paper left over from a previous job,

I decided to use it this time.

It’s a nice pattern, so I want to put up the whole surface with just this,

However, it is not enough because it is a scrap, so it is ・・.

I found another scrap of paper with a good pattern, so I used that too to make the allocation.

I thought about using another good patterned scrap of paper, but it still did not work.

I ended up using three different types of paper.

It now looks like this.

I’m going to fit it into a sliding door.

The pattern stands out quite a bit due to the condition of the photo,

But at a glance with the naked eye, it is a normal (plain) shoji screen.

When viewed from inside a room (with the lights turned off),

The pattern is transparent and looks good. these is clearly visible to the naked eye.

these is the beauty of “shoji screen”.
