Introduction of works exhibited at “Exhibition of Housoumoso Works @ Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum
It has been a long time coming, but we would like to introduce the works exhibited at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in June,
It has taken some time, but we would like to introduce the works exhibited at the “・ Interior Works Exhibition” held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in June.
This work was actually exhibited in Ginza in October last year (2024),
It was actually a re-exhibition of a work exhibited at the Hyosuikai-sponsored “Kakejiku no Mirai Exhibition 2024” held in Ginza, Tokyo in October last year (2024).
This paper is here.

these is the work of Emi, a brush character.
The dynamism of the calligraphy and the colors of the surrounding marbling convey a cheerful and joyful atmosphere at first glance.
It also seems to naturally spread this feeling to the surroundings without keeping it inside, and seems to bring happiness to those around it.
I would love to enhance the euphoric feeling of this work by mounting it.

Here is what we designed.
I felt that if the marbling around the paper was cut away, it would detract from the charm of the work,
I felt that if I cut the marbling around the paper, it would detract from the charm of the work, so I decided to use the irregular shape of the paper as it is.
However, it would not be interesting if it was just a piece of lined paper,
I backed the paper with a piece of ochimizu paper with holes in it.
Next, the circular decoration around the perimeter.
Considering the compatibility with the color of the marbling, I thought it would be good to use a very vivid color.
I looked for a color that would match the color of the marbling, but unfortunately, I could not find anything in the right color.
Therefore, I searched for a color that matched my image without any pretense,
I managed to find one.
I cut them into circles and joined them together.

It went almost exactly as I imagined.
I went ahead with the tailoring as it was.

Somehow or other, it was completed.

A hanging scroll completed like this, following the “Future of Kakejiku Exhibition 2024,
・ Interior Works Exhibition” held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum.
And!
As you can see from this page, this year’s work was voted 5th in the visitors’ popularity poll!

It is a great honor. Thank you greatly.
While continuing to utilize the traditional techniques and sensitivities of the traditional omotezome,
I would like to continue to challenge to create more modern tablecloths while utilizing traditional techniques and sensitivities!
