Repair of shoji screen

Today we have a request to reupholster a SHOJI screen.

As you can see in the picture, the cleats of this shoji screen are broken,

So we need to repair it first.

(these is not a job for a mounting shop…)

By the way, if the cleat of your shoji screen is broken,

If you can keep the broken pieces and not throw them away, we would be very grateful,

It will be relatively easy to repair it.

Again, we were able to smoothly repair the area where there was debris,

However, there was one place where there was no debris…

In these places, we cut and join the wood according to the dimensions.

After the repair is successfully completed, a weight is placed on top and the glue is allowed to dry.

It is now not so obvious at a quick glance.

As the years go by, it will assimilate further and become less noticeable.

The replacement is complete with the paper covering.
