Mirai Exhibition of Hanging Scrolls and Paintings, Introduction of Exhibits

Thanks to the Omotoshikai sponsorship,

The Mirai Exhibition of Kakejiku and Paintings” ( see past blog ), organized by Hyosuikai,

The exhibition was a great success.

Today, we would like to introduce some of the hanging scrolls that were exhibited at the “Mirai Exhibition of Hanging Scrolls and Paintings.

Looking back, in mid-January, I had a painting for mounting on a scroll.

The students ・ graduate students ・ professors from each university gathered together,

The Hyosuikai discussed who would be in charge of which painting.

All of the paintings were attractive, but I was among them,

I was most attracted to the painting of Ms. Takako Kikuchi of Tokyo University of the Arts,

I decided to use it as a hanging scroll.

I am sorry that the picture does not fully convey the charm of the painting,

But anyway, it is a shimmering and wonderful work of art.

The first step in the process of creating a hanging scroll was to consider the overall design and dimensions of the work.

The concept (?) of this exhibition The concept (?) of this exhibition is also a concept of this exhibition,

the concept of this exhibition is a hanging scroll that can be hung even without an alcove,

We ignored the traditional dimensions of ・ ratio and started from scratch.

After much verification on the PC,

I taped the room and looked at the size of the room,

Finally, we made a sample of the actual size on imitation paper.

The dimensions were determined, and the crucial rips were made at Masumi Tokyo.

I got the perfect one for my image.

A black tear those reminds of the deep sea to match the squid in the painting.

these is used in the top and bottom.

Next is a saki with a gradation of silver sand motifs.

these is used for the middle part.

Then, a gold saké those matches the color tone of the painting.

these is used for the stripes around the perimeter and the top and bottom of the paper.

After all these twists and turns, here is the completed hanging scroll.

The title is “Sparkle.

The title was chosen to emphasize the glittering nature of this paper,

the overall color scheme is subdued to complement the glittering nature of the paper.

The paper is shifted from the center to the right,

the gold streaks through the top and bottom of the paper are more impressive.

I think I was able to express a ray of light shining into the ocean floor,

I am personally satisfied with the result.

Incidentally, we also produced a catalog and postcards this time.

I never thought that the day would come when a scroll I made would appear in the catalogue.

This hanging scroll was sold at the exhibition,

Unfortunately, it did not sell during the exhibition.

So, it is still available for purchase,
