I made a hanging scroll-style Christmas tree at an elementary school festival.
As I mentioned on my profile page, I am a father of three children,
I am also a father of three children, and in between taking care of my children, I work every day.
I was fortunate enough to be put in charge of the festival committee at the elementary school where my oldest and middle children attend,
I was able to successfully complete the festival last November.
One of the festival’s projects was to have the children put many stickers on the paper and create an artwork.
Since it was the season of the year, we decided to make a fir tree as the base paper to put the stickers on, and asked the children to put their stickers on it to make a Christmas tree.
The school is a mammoth with over 1,000 students in total, and to allow an unspecified number of children to put stickers on the tree,
The base paper needed to be quite large.
Arranging for large sheets of paper is my specialty! Therefore, I will be the one to produce it.
I calculated the approximate dimensions of the paper, taking into consideration the location and the height of the elementary school students. these is how I imagined it.

I arrange the paper immediately.
It is Japanese paper called Torinoko-gami, which is used for sliding doors and the back of frames.

Next, we will cut this one.

This black paper is the back of the fir tree. 2 sheets of Torinoko-gami are joined in the middle.

Let’s put a fir tree on it.

The gold star at the top of the tree, cut along the mold. I was lucky enough to find scraps of gold leaf paper used for gilt folding screens, etc.

Glue the cut fir tree and star onto the black paper base. (Of course, fu glue is used!).

these completes the process!
(My father also asked me, “If you go this far, why don’t you back the paper?
(Even my father said, “If you’re going to go this far, why don’t you back it up? (My father also said, “If you’re going to go this far, why don’t you back it up?)
So, I lined the entire surface and stretched it on a board to dry.
After drying it thoroughly, I attached the shaft rod ・Hatsuso as well as the hanging scrolls, and attached metal fittings to hang it up.
these is just a simple work to be displayed for a few days, so please forgive me if I pick on the details of the finish, lol.

It looks like a hanging scroll, but it is not the same process from a mounting artist’s point of view.
So, we checked in the store whether it can be hung (displayed) perfectly flat.

Oh, it looks like it’s going to be OK somehow!
And so we carried it to the actual installation site. We were not able to hang it in the place that we had expected in advance, but we were able to hang it in a place just a few feet away,
but we were able to hang it in a slightly remote place.

The day of the festival arrived.
◆
Many people were able to put stickers on the wall. The colorful circle stickers were put on the tree,
The school’s original Christmas tree was completed.
It was decided that it would be a waste to dispose of the tree as it was, so it will be displayed in the school building.

It will be displayed in the hallway of the school until Christmas like this.

It was a very valuable experience for me to be involved in an elementary school festival those attracts more than 1,000 visitors once a year.
It was a very valuable experience for me.
I don’t know if I can accept your request for a super-sized hanging scroll (laugh),
